The Historical Archives of Novi Sad were founded in 1954. They have the status of an inter-municipal archive, meaning that they are responsible for a number of different municipalities, precisely Novi Sad, Titel, Zabalj, Temerin, Vrbas, Backa Palanka, Backi Petrovac, Beocin and Sremski Karlovci. Petar Djurdjev (Петар Ђурђев) was born on January 13, 1978 in Novi Sad (Serbia). Djurdjev finished primary school and grammar school in his hometown. He continued his studies at the University of Novi Sad, studying History at the Faculty of Philosophy. Djurdjev is a historian, high school teacher and head of the Historical Archives of the City of Novi Sad. His research focuses on the following topics: the history of Novi Sad, the history of the Šajkaška region and the history of sports in Novi Sad between First and Second World War. Since September 2013 he has been the head of the Historical Archives of the City of Novi Sad.
