The 3rd MOMathon

Two weeks ago, on 15 November 2016, the already 3rd #MOMathon16 took place, organized within the EU-funded project co:op.

The MOMathon is an online event concerned with the Monasterium portal – Europe’s virtual charters archive. It gives everyone interested in refining the accessibility of digital available historic documents the opportunity to collectively enhance the world´s largest database of medieval and early modern charters.

34 participants from Germany, Austria, Romania, Italy, Spain and Great Britain helped to enhance the database of Monasterium with new metadata. Some attendees even changed the online-event to a local event and met over coffee and cake for a join editing:

Also on Twitter the event received resonance: You can read the tweets of the #MOMathon16 collected in our Storify:

The event turned out more than successful: in total 155 charters were edited. That´s more than last time!

Of course, there were also great prizes waiting for the most diligent editors: The most successful participants can now look forward to a yearlong membership at ICARUS4all:

  • Codruta Mihailovici from Romania,
  • Diane Scott from Great Britain,
  • Vera Schwarz from Italy and
  • Maria Rottler from Austria.

We cordially congratulate the winners and thank all of you for the fidelity in spite of the server crash!
