Giuseppe Consolo was born in Naples, Italy, on September 12, 1991. He became interested in the world of the Digital Humanities and digital archives thanks to the Paleography and Diplomatics during his graduate school course (University of Naples Federico II, Prof. Antonella Ambrosio), and continued his studies during his stay in Austria, under the supervision of Professor Georg Vogeler. He got his master’s degree in Historical Sciences in 2019 with a thesis in paleography and diplomatics, “The Codex Diplomaticus Cavensis. The notary in the Principality of Salerno and digital technologies”, a work that looks at the digital world through the use of GIS technologies and document digitization.
Giuseppe is also a member of the “DSW Lab. Historical documents on the Web” research and teaching laboratory (UNINA), as well as of the Icarus Italia association for the research, publication and conservation of digital documents, through the use of Monasterium.net and Topothek.eu.
He is also interested in activities that aim to make people more active and aware of the role they play in history and in the creation and conservation of historical sources, through the production of digital archives (photographic, documentary…).
