Dr Charles J. Farrugia has been active in the international archives fora for the last twenty years.  He is Malta’s National Archivist and a lecturer in Archives and Records Management at the Department of Library, Information and Archive Sciences at the Faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences, University of Malta.

His doctoral specialisation is in the management of national archives with particular emphasis on cultural performance maturity models.  He has published in a number of international journals including Comma. 

He has also occupied a number of archival positions such as Chairperson of the Association of Commonwealth Archivists and Records Managers(ACARM) and the European Branch of the International Council on Archives (EURBICA) and was the organiser of the CITRA conference in Malta in 2009.
